There are all kinds of youth groups, ones that focus more on the fun, ones that are very serious and only focus on the Bible, ones that combine fun and Biblical principles, etc. Yet, how do you know what type of church youth group will work for you?

1) It Shares Your Beliefs

First and foremost, you want to belong to a church youth group that shares the same belief system as you. Investigate youth groups within your denomination, so that you feel comfortable with what is being preached and how the Word is being presented. At FBC, our goal is for each teen to be a part of a caring group, connecting them to God by a personal relationship with Jesus, caring adults and other believers.  Following Jesus' Great Commission to make disciples, we want to help them to grow in their faith and to teach them to discover the unique gifts that God has given them, so that they will honor God with their lives, by developing a personal ministry that they can give their lives away in Jesus' name.

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

2) It is Invested in You

What does it mean that a youth group is invested in you? As Christian teens, you still have a lot of spiritual growth in front of you, and your church and youth group should be focused on helping you grow both spiritually, emotionally, and developmentally. Basically you want a youth group that offers you activities that do more than just allow you to play games. You should know your youth group has both a focus on God while also allowing you to be social and have some fun. That's what being a teenager is about...growing in all kinds of ways. You should choose a youth group that meets you where you are in your own spiritual walk and offers you a chance to grow and quite simply "Be a Teen". At FBC we believe our youth is our future and we invest heavily in them. FBC Youth is a very active youth group that participates in a wide variety of activites including study groups, camps, retreats, community services, etc.

3) It Holds Your Interest

Now, all kinds of activities and studies can be good, but only if you are going to get something out of them. Make sure that the services and activities are geared toward your own interest. This will make being a part of your church youth group more of a joy and far less of a chore. At FBC our youth love to be together and experience what life has to offer together.

So how does Franklin Baptist's youth group fit?

Pretty simple really...At FBC Youth Ministry we learn, laugh, grow, praise, love, play and serve together.  We live in fellowship and respect and will hold each other accountable to God's word. Come and be a part of a great group of youth searching for their place in God's kingdom.  Find your place here at FBC Youth!

DustinDupre smAbout our Youth Leader

Dustin (27) and Flora Dupre (26). Children are Elouise (6), Ben (3), and Julia (1). We have been married for 7 years. We are followers of Christ, Husband and wife, and seek to be God honoring and discipling parent of our three children. I am a graduate of Piedmont International University in Winston Salem, B.S. in Health and Physical Education. Flora is a hardworking and dedicated homeschool mom.

Flora and I have been in youth ministry for about 9 years. We love being involved in teenagers lives and are grateful for the opportunity to serve at FBC. We are big fans of small groups and cherish the one on one opportunities with teens when they come. Our goal is to display sacrificial Christ-like living so the teens can see that Christianity, a life in Christ, is a real lifestyle that is preeminent in every aspect of our day. We teach that our minds are in need of daily renewal which is accomplished by meditation on God’s Word, and that the Church, the body of Christ, is a vital part of our life. Our philosophy is to used by God to disciple teens, who will in turn disciple others. Personal Note: I was born and raised in Kenner, LA and moved to NC when I was 13. We are lovers of sports, traveling, technology, and the outdoors.

We have lots of fun with special events, retreats, mission trips, volunteering in the community, and more. We would love for you to join us and see what FBC youth is all about!
